Why therapy?
What is my role in therapy?
• Make a commitment to change or grow
• Take responsibility for your own life
• Set goals for therapy
• Give feedback to your therapist
• Work on your own goals between sessions
What is my therapist's role concerning therapy?
• Decide if his or her skills meet your needs
• Assist you in reaching your goals
• Identify community and other psychotherapeutic resources
• Learn coping skills
• Balance work, family, social and spiritual lives
Do the therapists have any limitations?
We cannot provide intense daily client monitoring. Further, we are unable to help clients who:
• Continue to be under the influence of illicit drugs (including alcohol)
• Misuse or refuse to use prescribed medication
• Require intense supervision
• Consistently disturb other clients or staff
• Endanger other clients or self
• Willingly destroy our property
What kinds of therapy programs do you offer?
We offer a variety of programs, including support groups, individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy. All therapists have been extensively trained and receive on-going supervision and education. When appropriate, clients have the opportunity to receive collaborative therapy with several consulting therapists.
Do I have to be of a certain faith to seek treatment at The Center for Pastoral Counseling?
We offer assistance to people of all faith backgrounds, as well as those with no faith background.
